Empire Building and Trust-Busting

William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt oversaw the formation of the American empire with the Spanish-American War. Roosevelt later became a “trust-buster,” fighting against monopolists who had too much power and threatened economic stultification. Teddy broke the ice with his few anti-trust suits, but his successor, William Howard Taft, was the true Trust-buster, no fooling. We need to bust some more trusts, post haste. The monopolists are eating us alive, and they are presently preparing the next big feast. America may not survive it as a democratic republic. We shall see. War & Peace at TheAttic Gallery
