Historical Monument of the American Republic

Based upon Erastus Field’s 1876 work of the same name. Fields wanted to really build his version of this; it would have been taller than the Washington Monument. He envisioned a railroad at the top linking the towers where museums would display the nation’s memorabilia. His fanciful project seemed to call for an unabashedly fanciful modern interpretation.
